GROTTE
Where
we live, is a little city at about 20 KM from Agrigento. It has nearly
6.500 inhabitant and is situated in a hill at 600 meters above sea
level.
Our
city is an old sulphur mine center; today its an agricultural center
and its most important products are olives, peaches and vines. It is
also a modern trade center.
The
folklorist group “ TRISCELE” from Grotte, was formed by young people
who love folk and Sicilian popular traditions, with a precise aim: to
hand down the most salient and typical aspects of Sicilian
manifestations in particular about Grotte.
This
group is a Cultural Association without profit; it was founded in 1998
and has maturated a lot of different performance experiences, in
regional, national and international level.
In
2001,
to give it a more regional aspect and a different kind of folk, the
group was called “ TRISCELE ” the name of the Gorgon figure with three
legs that symbolizes Sicily.
The
performance is constituted by different kind of traditional, very joyful
and rhythmic dance, like “ Tarantella”, “ Polka” and “ Manzurka”, and
also by old farmers songs like the “Peach song”, the “Vintage song”,
and the “ Harvesting song “. The “ Courting” song “ Cummaredda”, is one
of the most amusing performance of our repertory. |
